NEC NEWS 21/05/02
by Barrabas

It has come to my attention that Mark issued a circular to the incoming NEC convening the first NEC meeting on 10th June.

Aside for the fact that this leaves PCS effectively rudderless for nearly a month, it is not within the remit of a GS elect to call the meeting. It is the province of the GS - one Barry Reamsbottom - who has also sent out a circular, convening the new NEC on Thursday 24th May.

Elle Presidentee says she knew nothing of this (despite Ramsbladder's insistence that he mailed and emailed her the notice to every known address she uses - home, work, HQ etc) and she and Serwotka spent all this afternoon up at the lawyers. (This is the same lawyer who gave conflicting advice on EM18, so is a bit unreliable, but never mind).

So what's the problem? The problem is that the first NEC decides and adopts Standing Orders and sorts out who sits on the sub-committees and other tasty morsels. The GS has a say in this and Mark does not become GS until 1st June, therefore Barry and the Moderati will have a field day ensuring they get all the juicy jobs, and Standing Orders are unlikely to be favourable to the GS elect or the President. We can expect to see a lot more collegiate decisions being taken by the NEC.

While it remains to be seen whether the legal advice is favourable to Mark and Janice, it is something that the Anti-Barry mob (LUNITY & ME1ST) should have spotted: all that time, effort, stage management and machination to get EM18 heard so that they could FINALLY see the last of the troublesome Moderate, and then the dead hand reaches out to strangle them....

Is there anything else they forgot?
